Frequently Asked Question
A standard ECG machine typically has 12 leads, but there are machines with 3-lead, 5-lead, and 6-lead configurations for specific monitoring purposes.
No, an ECG test is painless and non-invasive. Electrodes are placed on the skin, but they do not cause discomfort.
A standard resting ECG takes about 5-10 minutes to complete. However, long-term monitoring (such as a Holter ECG) can last 24-48 hours or more.
No, ECG readings vary based on age, health condition, and individual heart activity. A doctor interprets the results based on medical history and symptoms.
An ECG is a powerful diagnostic tool, but it may not detect all heart conditions. Some issues, such as intermittent arrhythmias or blockages, may require additional tests like echocardiograms or stress tests.
